There's a right way and a wrong way to take selfies

Don't photobomb yourself!

Check the background and double check what reflections might be present. Some mighty embarrassing house filth or body parts may be exposed.

Don't overdo the makeup unless you intend to look hilarious

Those fake brows and eyes really do look fake. See next image!

27 Dec 2017 at 5:20PM
See, too much!

If you want to look like a clown its great but otherwise, you are best off if you refrain from overdoing the makeup.

27 Dec 2017 at 5:22PM
Another suggestion

Its wise not to overdo anything in a selfie. Well, unless you want to look ridiculous, then its perfectly acceptable.

27 Dec 2017 at 5:24PM
Check your pose and expression in a mirror beforehand

It helps to prepractice your pose a bit.

27 Dec 2017 at 5:27PM
Check your surroundings outside too!

Photobombs await you and its your job to carefully present your backdrop wherever you do a selfie.

27 Dec 2017 at 5:32PM
Yes, its fair game to implement subject material in any selfie

27 Dec 2017 at 5:34PM
Intentional photobombing or not, its in your hands

Pun intended lol

Once you are assured everything is in order, pick a hairy companion

Anyone will do, but it seems the hairier the better.

27 Dec 2017 at 5:39PM
Align your hairy companion under your face if possible

This catbeard didn't quite get there.

27 Dec 2017 at 5:41PM
Not the best alignment example

Be sure your hairy companion 'fits' your face. Placing an exposed critter nose where yours should be is only part of the alignment. The companions head or body needs to blend with yours to truly be successful.

Try being inventive

A little imagination goes a long way.

27 Dec 2017 at 5:48PM
Looking down into a camera helps

Note the correct nose placement and how the smaller cat fills the subjects lower face simply by positioning the camera below the subject.

Perfect timing

You may have to try several shots for that perfect one.

27 Dec 2017 at 5:52PM
Its all in the alignment

27 Dec 2017 at 5:54PM
Artfully done

27 Dec 2017 at 5:55PM
Its easy to create a hairy beard

Suit your beard to your personality

27 Dec 2017 at 5:58PM
Props are allowed

27 Dec 2017 at 6:00PM
Crop if needed

By cropping this hairy beard looks more natural.

Expression counts

Ginger on ginger

27 Dec 2017 at 6:03PM
Hairy eye instead of a beard

As long as it works.

27 Dec 2017 at 6:06PM
Timing is everything

27 Dec 2017 at 6:08PM
Frightfully Halloweenish

27 Dec 2017 at 6:09PM
Perfect beard selfsies don't always come from pets

27 Dec 2017 at 6:10PM
Guinea pigs make good beards too

Try laying down with an uncooperative pet to take the shot

27 Dec 2017 at 6:16PM
Be inventive!

27 Dec 2017 at 6:17PM
There's lots of room for originality

27 Dec 2017 at 6:18PM
You may find you resemble your pet in the process

27 Dec 2017 at 6:19PM
Of course, there's a downside
