pirates fate-Gregory Manchess

pirate-paintings-for-national geographic
the Whydah Gally was a British slave ship that was captured by the infamous 'Black Sam' Bellamy and his crew of 143 pirates.
The infamous Whydah Gally went down in a storm in 1717 taking with it a massive booty, including 400,000 gold and silver coins.
At the time,it was carrying plunder from its raids on 50 ships.
Seven survivors were rounded up when they made it to shore. They were held in prison for some time, wearing the same clothes as when they were captured. They got pretty raggedy by trial time. Most of them were hanged. Two were made slaves again.
The Puritan minister in front of the podium is Cotton Mather, son of Increase Mather, notorious minister of the Salem Witch Trials.
The wreck was found in 1984,but not all its treasure.
this april,Explorer Barry Clifford said he believes he has found a trail of gold coins that will lead him to the priceless plunder.
so this artwork has a timely story update.
