Re: Yikes, Run! Here comes the Kudzooo
It's a terrible fast growing vine that takes over once it gets started. It was brought to one of the Southern States(Georgia?) from Japan I think, to maintain land erosion. It's made its way here. They say you can only kill it by attacking the main root ball. It literally grows to the top of giant oak's-across roads and it grows fast.

Re: Yikes, Run! Here comes the Kudzooo
there are counties in Wv that actually help land owners fight this vine, and fine ppl who deliberately plant any. It's that prolific lol.

Re: Yikes, Run! Here comes the Kudzooo
Why would anyone want to get it started, it takes over. It could crawl in your window overnight. Indiana has laws about having running roses and other things that spread-wonder what they'd do if this showed up?

Re: Yikes, Run! Here comes the Kudzooo
whooooweeeeeee!!!! careful what you wish for bird, im sure, if the powers that be are that afraid, that there is a way to stop it dead in its tracks. There is however a price to be paid. Agent Orange comes to mind! We wont even contemplate the biological agents that could be used. Id start with a mutated roundup. lol. good ol oil and vinegar.. just a thought!!

Re: Yikes, Run! Here comes the Kudzooo
Yes, but it's not actually in my back yard but all over the county where I live and it just keeps spreading. It can climb and cover a power pole or tree in no time. I was just noticing it yesterday while driving with my grand kids. Being from Florida they didn't know what it was and thought it was kewl, lol. I'll take some more photos of it next time I'm out.

Re: Yikes, Run! Here comes the Kudzooo
That's how it's looking around here. I once heard that they had made a concoction to cure alcoholics from the plant but nothing recently. I can't imagine how many gravesites it has covered-gives me the willies!

KUDZU CEMETERY
YOU WERE NOT KIDDING ABOUT KUDZU COVERING CEMETERIES!
HOW MANY GOATS WOULD IT TAKE TO EAT THE VINES?http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fOTV44LcZeo/Vck8ON4SS1I/AAAAAAAACOk/xoCe1UkQHuE/s1600/kudzo.jpg

KUDZU FOR MY ROOF GARDEN
I WOULD LIKE SOME VINE PIECES TO PROPAGATE IN MY ROOF GARDEN PLANTERS! THEY WOULD PROVIDE GREAT SHADE AND CLIMB MY CHAIN LINK FENCE. NO CONCERNS OVER THEM GETTING OUT OF CONTROL...

Re: Yikes, Run! Here comes the Kudzooo
I could try to get you a root or two but the stuff gets so out of control it'd probably crawl thru your windows at night. I once heard that someone in one of the Southern States brought it here for the purpose of shading his porch for his wife.

Re: Yikes, Run! Here comes the Kudzooo
I WOULD LOVE TO TRY 2 ROOTS, BUT I DO NOT KNOW THAT I WOULD BE PERMITTED TO RECEIVE IT THROUGH POSTAL MAIL HERE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. I THINK IT IS A SEA STORY THAT KUDZU GROWS THROUGH ANY WINDOWS DURING THE NIGHT. OUR MOONLIGHT IS INSUFFICIENT FOR NIGHT GROWTH OF THIS VINE. I HAVE NOT CHECKED SAN DIEGO COUNTY NURSERIES FOR IT YET..FRESH PLANT PARTS ARE REGULATED WITH REGARD TO THEIR IMPORTATION INTO MEXICO DEPENDING UPON THEIR ORIGIN AND...
Regulated ImportsRegulated imports may be brought into Mexico according to their origin and manufacturing process and they have fulfilled the importation requirements.

Re: Yikes, Run! Here comes the Kudzooo
Colorado don't care, we will be safe as long as it doesn't try to grow out of the box, as it's being sent to us.

Re: Yikes, Run! Here comes the Kudzooo
It actually looks worse then our Silver Lace Vine, and those grow to be hard wood and can look like big trees. With beautiful little white flowers... I'll try to send you a picture. It would grow bigger but I cut it down like a hedge.
