Re: Me in the woods
For those who go fishing it is great. I don't fish. We go bird watching.

So do you get to see a wide variety of birds?

Re: Me in the woods
In the past 3 years since I've started, I've seen over 150 different types of birds and ducks on my walks.

That would be so neat to be able to see so many!

Re: Me in the woods
I know you are a bird lover, too. Do you ever go on weekend bird walks in the area where you live? Most of my walks are within 50 miles of where I live.

Re: Me in the woods
We live in an area that has forests in every direction plus our backyard is a small wooded area. And while we see quite a few, they are usually the same kind. We don't go hiking as much as we used to due to (i hate to admit it) aging. Our backyard has numerous feeders and we do see different birds as they migrate through. But they only stay to rest up and eat (boy, do they eat!) and then they're on their way. We do have an indigo bunting that comes every year. They're beautiful!

One of the best parts of watching them is trying to see if we can get a good photo of them. Do you take pictures?

Re: Me in the woods
Yes, we do, but we have yet to get a pic of the rose grosbeak that comes through. We have pics of the indigo and oriole but they're not good ones. And of course the cardinal and goldfinches.
