Re: a brown bird of some kind
Nice shot! I might have placed more space to the left of the image and less on the right, but only a bit.

Re: a brown bird of some kind
Both wrong. It is a Female Common Grackle. I need to update some of my older pictures. I will try and post my picture of a cowbird and a starling this weekend. Thanks.

Re: Female Common Grackle
This picture, the egret on the concrete, and the turkey vultures were the 1st pictures I took with my "Christmas 2011" gift camera. At that time I didn't know the difference between an egret and a crane. Or the difference between between a grackle and a crow. I thought "seagull" was the name for gulls. In other words I knew nothing at all about birds. But, I'm learning.

Re: Female Common Grackle
I love birds ive bred exotic birds and im an amature bird watcher, its really cool the grackle looks more like the cowbird than the cowbird, naww ive looked at both and ,,, I dunno,,, honest,,, the cow bird has exactly same colors and feather signatures as the grackle, however heres my difference the grackle, has a black head, all around and this bird doesn't. but all the other markers are there, sort of. lol don't pay any never mind to me, I dunno, lol great picture tho!!

Re: Female Common Grackle
All I can say is the 2 female grackles here were in a group of about 1 or 2 hundred that had decended on the walmart parking lot. There were female and male. Perhaps they all weren't adult grackles. As you know, when birds aren't at the adult stage in their lives they do have different markings.
