Thanks for such great information on this cool bird. He's always in this same spot in the backyard pond catching the ☀️. Now I know why.

they are also called a snake bird because as they swim their necks and head are out above the water and it looks like a snake LOL

I saw on of these birds in Tampa while on Vacation. I stopped the car and got out to take a closer peek. It appeared to resemble a Cobra. As I got closer, I realized it was a bird. Very unique creature.

And they are a large bird, full grown their wing span can be over a meter/yard!!!
