It all depends which side you're on & how seriously you take it. Consider the 4th of July which is taken very seriously by a large number of people here on GT which, in case anyone has fodgotten, is an international site. & yet nobody on this site makes much of Thank Goodness Day on which the English give fervent thanks for having dodged some kind of bullet although they speak about it in whispers if at all. It is true that in every conflict there are at least two sides, therefore it follows that for every victor there is at least one victim which hardly views anniversaries of the event with any joy or pleasure. Should we ban all such celebrations to spare the feelings of the victims? Consider Guy Fawkes Day which celebrates defeat of The Catholic Plot to blow up the Palace of Westminster using mutitudinous barrels of black powder? Or should we tell the victims to stiffen up & endure such celebrations with an appropriately immobile upper lip? Idk, I really don't. 🤷♂️
