Sometimes with ozzy and hulk dying recently. We only see the public persona and personality and not the real person for what they stand for or who they really are? You can judge them for what they do in public but we do it all the time not knowing the real person for what they really believe it! I'm guilty of it myself. Ozzy was married for a lot time and good father and told his fans at concerts, I love you many times. He don't sound like a prince of darkness but sang music like it in heavy metal as his public imagine says.

That is such a mean thing to say. Yes we know those things about him, but we're trying to mourn his passing just the same. The man just died. And there are good things that we remember him for. Let God be his judge.
(#5700966) Re: Hulk Hogan
Posted by bookfox on 24 Jul 2025 at 9:31PM
If you knew anything about his life outside of the wrestling ring, he was most definitely not of "good character". Even in wrestling, he was a union buster for athletes trying to get better conditions & health benefits. He made very racist remarks and was recorded freely using the N-word. I think a lot of people are mourning part of their childhood with memories of him and not the real person. Sometimes our childhood idols don't stand up to grown up scrutiny.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre, when I was 18. Drove 50 miles to see it. I'm so freaked out that all the way home I kept checking the back seat. The next morning I'm telling my dad about the movie while we're driving to drywall some new apartments in a very rural area. He was at one end of the apartments and I'm at the other. Then some dude on a motor bike shows up and starts jumping the mounds of dirt all around the apartments. I go running to my dad an he's peeing his pants laughing. We went home. (Apologies for the long post)

Afaik there are three buttons, each one held by a senior member of the US Goverment, & two of the three buttons must be pressed for the launch of nuclear weapons to happen. Idk what are the UK, French, Russian, Chinese, & Israeli (?) protocols for a nuclear launch. Given the stated intention of the IRGC to destroy Israel it is unlikely that they will build in any restrictions or safeguards to prevent use of their nukes should their supreme leader decide to launch. The operating assumption of MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) is that nobody wants to die & will therefore be most reluctant to make the first launch which will doubtlessly trigger retaliationry strikes that will assuredly destroy the initiating country too. The entire basis of MAD falls away & ceases to play any role when at least one party with nuclear bombs does not value life as Westerners do. Islamicsts from various organisations have repeatedly stated that they love death more than Westerners love life hence the preponderence of suicide bombers in their ranks who have detonated explosives which eliminate themselves

I guessed Big Giant Head would know this one. I didn't know that Byteme would be equally proficient with Yes.
Byteme are you the one who knows the dime dancin' tune?

Looks like someone likes my selection but wants someone else to guess it.
I'm pretty sure of one person knowing this next one.
"Twenty-four before my love
You'll see I'll be there with you".

Some people sign up for far more games than they have time to play, I wish I knew why

Each game we play has a 'clock' for moves.
It is our 'clock' and we can choose when to move.
Also, people who rush you to move are cheating; trying to make you 'Blunder',
they want to win the game.
It is your clock and it is 'YOUR Choice'.

Nobody sits idle here. We can play a lot of games, and there's discussion boards and clubs to talk in. I just read the newsletter and that probably took half an hour. Just because we don't look busy doesn't mean we aren't.

this is true...and in other states...
I'm looking forward to hearing about...
"Howard Johnson's eating places or restaurants.
what about "Dairy Queen" dips, with chocolate or other toppings?
A&W Root Bear, also get a cheeseburger, etc.
also, motorcycles were in the trunk of cars, as lots of movies then played gang, action stories.
and 'Horror Movies" - very popular.

The Drive-in theaters- people were snuck in, being in the trunk of the car, then let out. big square movie screen.Lots of people had convertibles too.

There are two separate banners. One is Bloomsday and the second is May the Schwartz be with you - this latter one flashes back and forth between the regular GT logo.
Today you are seeing 2 logos, Bloomsday & Schwartz because both are scheduled to be shown on the same date.

Yes we had the same issue last year.
Today is the Lilac Bloomsday run, held on the first Sunday in May in Spokane.
It has no relationship to Joyce other than the name

When I was a young boy (early 1960s) there was a Neisner's and Woolworth's a block apart in downtown Massillon, Ohio. Both were 5 and 10 cent stores and had snack bars inside where you could get breakfast or a hot lunch.

The graphic on the banner today is sometimes a picture of James Joyc, with the tooltip reading 'Wishing You Te Happiest Bloomsday.' I didn't know what this was so I looked it up and apparently it's in June, not May.
