Best Recipe Contest for November's recipe contest is: Pork Chop
Pork chops are a cut of meat from the upper portion of a pig's body, coming from the portion that runs from the pig's hip to its shoulder. They are considered one of the most popular cuts of meat from a pig and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Chops can be prepared a number of different ways and can be sliced thin or cooked thick.
The most popular of pork chops are probably the center loin chops that have the bone left in. These are very similar in type of to the T-bone steak in beef, and they come from the same portion of the pig that T-bones come from in cattle. In the Midwestern United States, a thicker cut may be referred to as an Iowa chop, a reference to the country's number one pork producing state.

(#5621100) July Cabbage Recipe - Time to VOTE - Recipes in Message
Posted by PattyMac on 1 Aug 2024 at 8:28AM
Best made in a 12" iron skillet with lid
1 small, or 1/2 large green cabbage - chopped and divided
4-5 med russet potatoes - peeled and coined (about 1/2" slices) - divided
1 13-16oz kielbasa - beef or turkey cut into angled 1/4" slices - divided
1-2 cups chicken stock
salt and pepper to taste
Heat and lightly oil/butter bottom of skillet and layer half of potatoes - season
Layer half of cabbage - season
Layer half of kielbasa
Repeat layers seasoning potatoes and cabbage and ending with kielbasa.
Pour in stock, cover, bring to a boil, then simmer for about 20 minutes.
Check for doneness of potatoes and cabbage and check for salt and pepper
Easiest to put layers on paper plates and volume is only restricted by the depth of the skillet - this is a favorite camping recipe.
Any kind of ground meat (I've used pork, chicken and beef)
any vegies on hand (I use onions, peppers, carrots and celery and sometimes spinach)
any rice (Ben's reheated or any rice you cook yourself)
1/2 bag of coleslaw
2T sesame oil
1T chili sauce
1/2 cup bone broth
1/3 cup soy sauce
2T rice vinegar
1 T garlic powder or fresh
1 T ground ginger or fresh
1/2 tsp pepper or to taste
I cook the meat separately then add the rest of the ingredients; simmer until the vegies are softened. Serve with rice.
1 cabbage
1 carrot for two people
1/4 onion
1-2 cloves of garlic per person or to taste
1 rib of celery for two
