Best Recipe Contest for August's recipe contest is: Potatoes
The potato is a starchy tuberous vegetable native to the Americas that is consumed as a staple food in many parts of the world. There are some 5,000 potato varieties worldwide, 3,000 of them in the Andes alone — mainly in Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile, and Colombia. Over 100 cultivars might be found in a single valley, and a dozen or more might be maintained by a single agricultural household. Potato dishes vary around the world. Lets post some potato dishes that are hard to turn down. Most meals consider the potato as a staple, cooked in many different way.

(#5695933) Foil Meal
Posted by JanuarySnowAngel on 29 Jun 2025 at 4:58PM
I had a bunch of kids last week and it was too hot to cook indoors. So, we got out an old Girl Scout recipe and grilled our "meals."
Ingredients:
Squares of HD aluminum foil
Raw Hamburg Patties (or Hot Dogs for picky kids)
Sliced Raw Potatoes
Corn on Cob (cut in 3)
Sliced Peppers
Sliced Onions
Cherry Tomatoes
Cheese
Salt/Pepper
1. Lay square of foil out.
2. Kids pile whatever foods from the list they want onto foil
3. Fold foil over tightly sealed.
4. Grill on low for roughly 30 minutes.
5. Cheese can be added once it's done.
6. Take off grill, open foil, let cool a bit for kids.
7. Dig in!
*If you're doing hot dogs, they don't take near as long.
**You can add any other foods you like to the list.
