Good question. I haven't seen the message " players have signed up" on a running tournament previously.
If you enter the Hypergammon, you see a message :
You cannot join this tournament at this time.
This tournament is no longer open for sign ups.
So since the number of players can't rise I guess this tournament won't start. But I'm just guessing. Maybe you can get the great silent magician to enlighten us
