LumberJill, you have a Ladder game going. Look at the Help box below the game, it says:
This is game #14585939. It has a time limit of 2 days per turn. If a player fails to make a move in time, that player forfeits the game. Vacation days and days off are ignored. The next move must be made within 1 day 17 hours to avoid a timeout.
You are in a site tournament. That information is on the page where you sign up.
The Backgammon (3 Point) Competition in The Nov 2024 — 3-week round robin — SLOWPOKE Tournament
The time limit is 2 weeks 1 day per move, and a player will forfeit the game if a move is not made in time
That should help you

Well thank you very much. What happens to the 51 days person. He is making a move everyday. And if there is a clock limit on a game is it listed somewhere? Now I've got to pay attention to my clock on all my games and see where I sit in the scheme of things. Thank you eliphont551. LumberJill

I found this on one of our Info pages.
Question
What is the clock at the bottom of the page in a game and how does it work?
Answer
The clock displays the total time that it has been yours and your opponent's turn since the game began. It is a running total. This helps to indicate how long it takes you to make a move. The numbers represent Days, Hours & Minutes. The clock at a player's name (also in multi player games) shows how much of the total time for the game it has been that player's turn to play. This means that if you move immediately after it becomes your turn your clock will only advance slowly, because the clock is stopped when it is not your turn. Let me try to clarify with an example. Players A and B both make 1 move a day, and B makes his move 5 minutes after A has made his move. This means that B's clock only advances 5 minutes per day while A's clock advances 23 hours and 55 minutes a day.
:
Underneath each game is the clock that denotes where you stand on time with that particular game. It looks like this:
White: xxxxxxx (1592 Friendly) [Clock: 4:02:10]
Black: gggggg (1675 Friendly) [Clock: 51:21:09]
The clock itself = equals days:hours:minutes
So this [Clock: 51:21:09] means gggggg has used 51 days, 21 hours and 9 minutes total in that specific game.

Some games, like the Olympics have a maximum time limit, to stop players delaying the game

The clock shows how much time has elapsed while it was your turn.

This may seem like a stupid silly question that I probably could find the answer to if I were to take days, maybe even a week, to find where it's mentioned just because there's so many different areas on this very cool turn based game site, what the clock means in games and why it's so different for each of the players?
Thank you LumberJill

(#5647898) Anyone else have trouble getting their verification e-mail?
Posted by LumberJill on 25 Nov 2024 at 5:07AM
I am so frustrated right now. I can't seem to get the e-mail needed with my verification code. I have tried everything. Both my regular e-mail addresses at least twenty times each and even created a new email. Nothing has worked. I don't want to timeout on my games. Plus I love this site and all you members. Please advise. Hopefully I can get this straightened out. And hopefully quickly. I bet I have hit the resend link at least 40+ times. HELP!
