Twin beds are correct!
Censors wouldn't allow married couples to sleep in the same bed as they feared it would scandalize viewers. However, some of the first to sleep in the same bed were:
The Munsters
Fred and Wilma Flintstone
One of the first sitcoms to allow married couples in the same bed was The Brady Bunch! (however, let it be noted, a toilet was never shown in the bathroom.)
