(#5722770) Origami Day
Posted by Jools on 11 Nov 2025 at 12:03PM
Origami Day, also known as World Origami Day, is celebrated annually on November 11th to honor the Japanese art of paper folding. This date was chosen because of the number (11/11) resembling the four equal sides of a square, a shape crucial to origami, and its connection to the symbolism of peace associated with the paper crane, which grew after World War II. When it is celebrated: November 11th each year. Why it is celebrated on this date:The date (11/11) visually represents the square shape essential for origami. The date coincided with Armistice Day, which is now recognized as a day for peace. The paper crane, a symbol of peace in Japan and internationally, became a fitting emblem for this day.
