Opening moves - the sweet spot

The "sweet spot" to cover with at least two pieces is the triangle just outside your inner six. If you roll 6-1 or 6-6 you should always try to cover that spot.
Why? Because it allows you to build up a wall to contain your opponent's farthest two pieces, giving you a chance of winning with a gammon or backgammon

sure, if you are lucky enough to roll 1st, then lucky enough to rll a 6,1 or a 6,6. that kind of luck alway happens to your opponent

I didn't become the great player that I am(humble- aren't I?...lol) until I learned to practice this strategy religiously!!
