When bearing in with contact (opponent owns a point in your board or is on the bar):

- always try to keep an even number of checkers on your highest point (you can also keep an even total on your 2 highest points)

- try to clear your points in order, starting with the highest one.

- watch out for rolls that will force you to leave a blot. There is an old rule of thumb that says if you can play 6-6 safely all rolls will play safely.

I am trying to understand this game.. the nugget is made up with terms that are foreign to a new user!

Well you can play safe and you can play wild,,,,,,
The best is to try not to use standard draws because if you play that way sooner or later your opponent will know how to play you.
If a player starts hard the best way is to try to slow the game down and the other way around.its hard but works !
