Site News

If you haven't heard, GoldToken is working on a new updated look. You can see one of the mock ups for our redesigned login page at the bottom of the Whats New page in GoldTokens http://groups.msn.com/Goldtoken-com/. Be sure to add your thoughts in the forum there!

Thanks to Mecir, you will soon be able to select your favorite board color for yout GoldDot games. He had uploaded the change, and it now waits to be loaded to our database. But thats not all Mecir has up his sleeve! First game started with his new creation, coming later this month, wins a GoldToken Note Pad! Send in your first game number of the upcoming new game to Contest Director, and we will award the prize to the lowest game number reported!

Monthly Message from Badger

GoldToken is now running under a new operating system, FreeBSD. We took the time while we were down to install this set up, since we had planned on taking GoldToken down in the near future to install it anyhow. Just made sence. I am truelly sorry for the lengthy delay and down time, but GoldToken will run better with the change, and have fewer down times because of the more stable system. I am also working with Chad to install a mirror system, so, should one of GoldToken's servers go down, (like any computer, it happens), you won't even notice, as the mirror site will continue to function as normal. This is a costly feature to add, but will keep GoldToken in the lead for being the top state of the art, turn based, game site.

Please note that on Friday, January 5, 2007, from 12:00 AM (EST) until 6:00 AM (EST), we will be conducting maintenance on GoldToken's servers. This is needed to configure our racks to efficiently distribute electrical loads and cooling requirements. Without proper maintenance, our initial rack configurations become outdated as time progresses.

Please note that we do expect this to result in an outage for GoldToken of approximately 6 hours though it could be far less. There is no way to conduct this maintenance without actual downtime but every effort will be taken to minimize the impact on your game play and enjoyment of this site. The time frame referenced is to allow for us to respond to any unexpected issues that might occur, and is not meant to indicate that a 6 hour outage is expected.

In life we meet new friends, many of them become true friends, and some turn into extra special friends. Here at Goldtoken, I have met many of these. :O)

Testimonials Of The Month

I had joined GoldToken in November of 2004. A friend told me about this site, and is now the only site I play games at. I really love the way it is run. I mostly love the fact that my grand-daughter can come to this site if she wanted to and I would not have to worry about her seeing anything out of line.

I started my own club called { Club } in September of 2005. People joined like crazy. I have had so much fun with it. I love setting up the challenges for the clubs. I have even had some site wide challenges. I now have a club named The Gammon Addicts Club that was handed down to me. That club is so fast paced that we start new challenges everyday. Then I was given the opportunity to run { Club }. That is a very good way for new people to the site to learn how the clubs are run and some of the different things you will find in a club.

In summary, GoldToken is the best game site I have ever seen. Thanks to everyone that helps to keep this the great site that it is!
