Good gravy if 2007 didn't end with great pains! December saw a major fault in our new servers that prevented the code transfer. At the same time, one of our old servers seemed to be dying. At first it was thought to be a code issue, then we were hit with a severe DOS Attack and our RAM began to fail. Chad, Mecir and I were scrambling to get the new servers re-setup while Chad and Mecir tweaked every last bit of service out of our old servers. As we rolled into 2008 and the site code had been fully transferred, the DNS seemed to take extra long to transfer and 100's of players who never logged out, forgot their user information to log back in. In the middle of this, the largest storm to strike northern California in umpteen years with snow, rain and wind, blew through and I lost my power and phone service, and had no means to get to where I could contact anyone. Quite the fiasco! Thank goodness, all is well and mostly back to normal now!
All active memberships received a two week extension in late December, and a second two week extension January 12th to make up for the site problems, slow speeds and the game timeouts being delayed. Please accept our apologies for the problems and know we are doing our best to keep this wonderful family game site running smoothly. GoldToken means a lot to all of us, and as Chad said "...Thanks for hanging in there. Unfortunately we are not immune to growing pains, but to me this site is something special, and I appreciate what everyone does to make this a friendly, active, and fun community. That's really what makes it all worth it."
The GoldToken management team and many players gave well over 2000 free gift memberships on Christmas Eve. If you were a guest, I hope you were one of the players to receive one!
Goldtoken.com has partnered with the IAGO World Tour for the remaining 2008 Season! The IAGO World Tour is the premier series of events for The International Abstract Games Organization (IAGO). This is very exciting and will set our tournaments and Federations in the world news. I am excited to announce GoldToken's new Tournament Director, joannamarie. Please send her a warm welcome! Currently she is learning the system, but starting February, will be responsible for club matches. Club presidents will then be able to send her their tournament requests once a week to be filled.
Not to be easily outdone, Tessa has been giving GoldToken her all for many years now, and is moving from the position of Assistant Manager to a GoldToken Site Manager. Surely I speak for everyone when I say "We all love you and appreciate the 'missing lens' fun you bring to GoldToken, Tessa!"

Recently I lost my Grandma. She had been very sick for the last 5 years. She's definitely in a better place now. Her death was really hard for me to take. We were very close. I have so many memories of her. When I was a kid I would spend the night at her house every Saturday. She introduced me to the game of checkers and we would play for hours every Saturday night. She taught me a lot about the game, patience, looking at the pieces closely before making a move and anticipating the next move from the opponent. I cherish those memories.
A few years back I was playing checkers on another site and my opponent mentioned that he also played at a site named GoldToken and that I should give it a try. I took the advice and soon realized that GoldToken was the best site that I've played games on. I became a member and started playing checkers with some of the best players in the world. With great honor I became the President of the The Away Down SouthNDixie Checker Club team a couple of years ago.
During her last few months of life, I would vent out on the Dixie clubs discussion board and ask for a prayer or two. The support from the Dixie club was awesome!! I told my Grandma that my Internet friends were praying for her. She didn't really understand why people would pray for her since she didn't know who they were. I kinda explained to her what GoldToken was all about.
I would like to thank the The Away Down SouthNDixie Checker Club for your kindness and support. I love ya all a bunch. Thanks to my friends that messaged me and expressed their condolences. Thanks to my friends for the sincere thoughts during our games. Thanks to the players that signed the sympathy card. I received it in the mail and it was awesome.
For those of you that still have grandparents alive, spend as much time with them as you can. The stories that they share are unique and priceless!!!!!!!!
Most of all, a big thanks to the GoldToken staff for your dedication of making this site the best and you deserve a big round of applause for the job that you do for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The For the Love of Draughts Club currently has four club tournaments going on for different Checker variants. We have active club ladders for all the 16 Checker variants that are offered at GT. We are working with { Club } to start an inter club Pool Checkers match sometime in January.

Happy 3rd Birthday to { Club }
A Fun Club For All opened on Jan 29, 2005Nan54 and I were just talking one day when I said, "Hey, let's make our own club from scratch"! She said, "You've got to be kidding. You've got so much going on now!" I remember telling her that we wouldn't get that many players and that she and I could handle one more club. Well, we've stayed just about at 150 members all the time!

I have to say that I spend at least a good 30-35 hours a week here. It's great to be able to play these games when I have time and not have to worry about finishing a game before doing other things in my life. Your site is so addictive! Do you know of a withdrawal clinic i can check into? 
Every aspect of your website design it is superb, you guys cover every possible option. You are so thorough and have programmed just about anything one can think of! Ease of use, etc. cannot be beat! You offer multitudes of game choices to satisfy all types of players, any questions and problems I've had have been answered by your support crew, immediately. You have some GREAT PROGRAMMERS!
The brainstorming sessions that are required to set up and maintain a site like this certainly must be grueling. 
I have a friend who is disabled and doesn't get out very often. This site provides her with many friendships, entertainment, and good conversation with people from all walks of life that she would otherwise not be able to interact with. GoldToken has literally kicked her depression!
