Who is behind the creation of this game? Maybe they need to know this?

The score of'0' shouldn't be posted until that part of the inning has been completed.

It LOOKS like the game is over BUT actually the half inning your on is marked by the number of runs scored so far. Which means it says 0 a lot umtill/if the batting team scores.

You can replay the First half inning and see the score was 0 until it wasn't.

I thought the game is supposed to end after 9 innings, unless there is a tie.
I have at least 1 other game doing this.

It would be better off with some strategy.

Can't we just fix this version first? It's not really a strategy game.

Why does there need to be new charts?

I'm suggesting making it more like rock, paper, scissors where by the pitch is kept secret until the batter chooses a number 1-6, that would be the only change.

Right. But we started games under these terms. So if you or SOMEONE (hint hint) want to make up pitcher/batter charts it can be submitted for play testing and eventually released under the name That OTHER Baseball Game. Or That Baseball Game Version B. Or so and so's Baseball Game if an egotist wants credit.

Just to be clear I am not a gold token official, I am a suggester.

I agree.

In my opinion, I believe that the pitch should be kept secret from the batter until they get the chance to select their own number from 1-6 and then reveal the outcome. Because right now being the batter seems pointless.

I was hoping someone would say this! Smiling

The lead runner is out and any other runners do not advance.
(#5566352) Double Play Question
Posted by KG_2020 on 29 Dec 2023 at 10:44PM
If there are 0 outs and 2 or 3 runners on base, which runner is out with the batter if the dice roll "Double play"? And do the other runners ever advance on that play?

Just wondering.

I agree.

This game has potential, but currently lacks any strategy. The pitcher can choose what pitch is best, but the batting results all have the same options (although each outcome has a different probability). It seems like a few tweaks could make this more interesting. Such as different potential outcomes for the pitches. As an example, a fastball could have higher stakes- more out options but also more big hit options (doubles, home runs, etc). This would be similar to real baseball while keeping the game moving.

I think the batter needs some choices. Like whether to swing or not. Also the different pitches are the same but in different order so it seems redundant. The game has potential but lacks strategy. Maybe a few small tweaks will fix it.

That's not possible, of course.

According to the rules, if the result of the dice roll is a Double Play, the number of outs is increased by 1.

If there is a runner on any of the 3 bases, increase outs by 2 instead.

How can the first batter up,hit into a double play?
(#5559881) Re: Moves?

I haven't played the game, but I don't think so.

The rules state: The batting team moves a team member to the home plate if there isn't any there, THEN ROLLS THE DICE to determine the actual result, and the result then gets played on the board.
(#5559878) Question

So if I am the batter or the pitcher, I would look at the brown area to see what happens from the dice roll ? Is that correct

Rock-Paper-Scissors is not my cup of tea, but I know others like it. I do realize there is a skill in being able to recognize and exploit non-random behavior in your opponent's choices.

Most of the time when this game is played, your opponent's choices will not be completely random and if not, it might be possible to take advantage of that, by outguessing them. And yes, your opponent might think they are playing randomly, but they most likely are not.

However, when playing R-P-S, if your opponent's choice IS indeed completely random, it is then impossible for you to exploit his/her moves. And then it's all a matter of luck again, for both players.

And yes, it's easy to indeed make a completely random choice. You can simply roll a die, for example. (If the result is a 1 or a 2, choose Rock. If a 3 or a 4, chose Paper. A 5 or a 6, choose Scissors.)

Another method, if a die is not handy, is to glance down and look at the second hand of your analog watch. (If the second hand is on the 1,4,7,10,13,16... etc., choose Rock. If the second hand is on the 2,5,8,11,14,17... etc., choose Paper. If the second hand is on the 3,6,9,12,15,18... etc., choose Scissors.)

When I was very young I can recall playing and enjoying the card game War. It might be played under different rules, but as we played the game, the game was 100% luck. As I got older, I discovered all luck games just weren't fun for me at all.

I would suggest this. The pitcher decides to pitch a strike or a ball, then the batter decides if they swing or don't. If it is a strike pitch and the batter doesn't swing it is a strikeout. If it is a ball pitch and the batter swings it is an out. If it is a strike pitch and the batter swings it is a hit. If it is a ball pitch and the batter doesn't swing it is a walk. The game would move a long fairly fast, Pretty basic stuff but it might be interesting to play. Simular to rock paper sissiors where you try to out think your opponent. What do you think?

the game would move along fast

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

But after a player chooses a pitch, according to the rules the team up at bat then rolls two dice to determine the result of that pitch.

So if the result of the play is determined randomly via a dice roll, I don't understand how a player can "guess" which pitch their opponent can't hit, even if they are the best guesser in the world.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see the point in a game that is 100% luck. Of course, maybe that's just me. Sure, a bit of randomness is fine... I love backgammon and poker for example... but if a two-year-old can play as well as an adult, I don't see the point.

As far as I can tell, You can call it "skill" if you out think the other guy by, choosing a pitch that he/she can't hit. happy
(#5558615) Any skill at all?
Posted by Mr Ed Collins on 5 Dec 2023 at 7:03AM
Quick question: Is there any skill at all to this new game or is it all just based upon rolls of the dice?

I read the rules (which were somewhat vague) and it seems 100% luck-based. Maybe I'm missing something.

Thanks.

Ok, team 1 pitches the ball by deciding what kind of pitch to pitch. Does team 2 have any responsibilities on the batting side?
