• Gold members can have two photo albums now
• Platinum members can have up to 10 albums

Game Of The Month

Aprils's game of the month is Reversi! Join us in a fun Double Elimination (3 Point) Tournament by signing up today for The April 2011 Game Of The Month - Reversi Tournament! Have fun

Reversi is a board game involving abstract strategy and played by two players on a board with 8 rows and 8 columns and a set of distinct pieces for each side, one light, the other dark. The player's goal is to have a majority of their colored pieces showing at the end of the game, turning over as many of their opponent's pieces as possible.

Reversi's history is a troubled one. Lewis Waterman patented the game as Reversi in 1888, though he had been marketing the game earlier than that date. James Mollett contested the claim that Reversi was Waterman's game, as he noted that the rules and play were very similar to his own game invention, The Game of Annexation, originally published in 1870. Mollett's Annexation game was played on a cross-shaped board, while Waterman's Reversi was played on a normal chessboard.

It is Waterman's version which is still played today, though it has not had a continuous history of popularity. During one of its down cycles, Japanese inventor Goro Hasegawa reinvented the game, with very minor differences, and marketed it in 1971 as Othello, after the Shakespearean play, which is the version most players are familiar with and the rule set played on GoldToken. The main difference being that the original Reversi game did not have a defined starting position. Othello's modern rules state that the game begins with four markers placed in a square in the middle of the grid, two facing light side up, two pieces with the dark side up and the dark player makes the first move.

Best Recipe Contest

March's winner is: Apple Cinnamon Pancakes

Prepare a light pancake as the box amounts recommend
Peel an apple - green works nicely
Use an apple peeler to slice the apple into the batter
(add more apple as you use up the batter so it retains apple in the batter )
add a teaspoon to vanilla extract
add cinnamon to the batter..

Add a little light olive oil to the frying pan and mix a little of butter or margarine to fry the batter ... medium heat and add enough water to keep the batter on the thin side so it is more like a crepe... cook till slightly crisp... eat while its hot! LOL

Some sausage links or bacon goes well!
