GoldToken's Monthly News |
January was a busy month spent updating GoldTokens servers, adding Go handicap stones and adjusting our new Caveman card games. Please, be sure to send Mecir your and appreciation for his time and efforts!
Several changes have been made to GoldToken's forums. Two new discussion boards, for those who love nature and outdoor activities, and for GoldToken's music lovers, have been added. GoldToken's game DB's (the Backgammon and Halma DB's for example) now allow guests to comment on them too. We hope this enables our guests to be more active on the site and provides everyone with easy access to the information they need.
GoldToken sent an initial donation of $421.50 to the Red Cross today for those suffering from flooding and mud slides in Australia and Brazil. There may be more funds still to come in with the The Flood and Mud Victims Fast Back Tournament tournament due to start in a few days, but we will forward those funds once all have contributed for their membership in the tournament. If you wish to take part in this tournament, please send 10 Golderos to .
Do you have a Gold or Platinum membership? If so, you are cordially invited to help test several fabulous new games on our beta server located at http://beta.goldtoken.com/ FUN_FUN_FUN!!
Here's to another fantastic year playing on GoldToken! HAPPY*GAMING!

Game Of The Month |
January's game of the month is Hypergammon! Join us in a fun Double Elimination (3 Point) Tournament by signing up today for The February 2011 Game Of The Month - Hypergammon Tournament.
Hypergammon is one of the most popular variants of Backgammon. With 3pt, 5pt, 7pt and 9pt Hypergammon games, the action is more intense as gammons and backgammons are more common. This fantastic variation on the traditional gammon game may offer new challenges and require new strategy but it's so easy to pick up that you'll love how quickly you could be winning!
Each player begins with three pieces rather than the usual fifteen so you'll have to adapt your usual game but the basic premise remains the same - move your pieces around the board using the dice and eventually move them off your end to claim victory! However, in Hypergammon, you'll start with one piece on each of the three furthest points of the board (the 22-point, 23-point and 24-point) so it's going to take a different kind of game to get them all home before your opponent!
A special Thank you |
Dear all Gamers on GoldToken.
I am just writing to thank you all for your kind words about my Grandma MountainMist The support everyone has shown is overwhelming and I'm sure if she was here now she would be so happy to see how fond everyone was and still is of her.
She is a very much missed member of our family and the love we all have for her will never go away. She is missed dearly by us all and by all of you I am sure.
She was an inspiration to me as she was to my younger sister Rebekah and my cousin Alyssa. A truly amazing and loving Grandmother. A dear Mum to Joanne and Ian and a really loving wife to Stuart.
The support you have all shown is overwhelming and it has really touched mine and my families hearts to know that other people from right across the world have seen what a great amazing woman Christine was.
So Thank you all for your kind words and support over the past month.
She will be missed dearly by all but never forgotten.
Smile for her. That is what she would want.
Thanks from all of her family.

Hi, I'm Steven aka smokeyblue.
to Badger for opening up a new DB called
for everyone to enjoy and express their loves and hates in the music world.
I enjoy most music but rap is the one for me, listening to Tupac at age 13 got me hooked.
Please stop by and we can all have a session and pluck the strings of our hearts to the music,
so come in grab a seat let your fingers type to the beat.
See you all there for fun,
Smokey signing out
marcmandy's CrossWords |
Brought to you by: marcmandy |
is an amiable gathering of word-type people trying to solve a crossword puzzle together. When there is an active puzzle, roughly five clues per day are posted at random times to try to cover the 10 or so time zones involved that I know of. With the restriction that each player posts no more than 2 answers for new clues, at least three different people will have a shot at being the first to solve clues every day. The first person to get a word correctly gets credit for the word and is listed at the bottom of the puzzle.
I create the puzzles in Excel, and, as circumstances allow, post a progressively filled puzzle as screen captures with updates the following day so players can see the progress and make educated guesses or educated surmising as tho' they were filling out the puzzle themselves. I provide links to a printable blank puzzle or a printable current state of the puzzle so players can try to make sense of it as they go along.
I have two approximate sizes of puzzles that I create and I characterize them as small or large. It takes a while to create one so there's often a hiatus between puzzles.
We also have another puzzle creator on our discussion board, Dragon Jr, who, as it turns out, creates puzzles for publication. He has already created a couple of puzzles and has expressed interest in adding to our repertoire with cryptic crosswords and/or line crosswords.
The Board has a strong core of players but we've also been growing and welcome new players. Come take a peek and jump right in if it looks interesting! Simply reply to the most recent puzzle and clue posting and put in your answer.
and if you have dabbled in Crossword Creation and would like me to host your creation, send it along to me and I'll look it over!

Testimonial Of The Month |
Brought to you by: *GoldToken* Players |
I was introduced to GT by a former work collegue. We were on shift together and he played on the site in
lulls of work. I asked, he showed and I joined. I have been playing ever since. Gradually building up
to gold level status, as I became more confident with the game site, the games and new friends, I have
the pleasure of getting to know and play against. Also you get to meet, greet and play against players from different countries, some I have visited whilst I was in the Army so i can relate to their country
and culture. I must admit to not knowing everything about GT yet but I'm learning ( very slowly ) and thats the beauty of the sit, you have time to explore and find out new things
I started as 1KINOBI, as that was my nice when I played on oter game sites, so i chose to keep the same, easier to remember. Then I thougth Shobee1 Kiobi sounded better and have used it ever since. I
no longer play on other game sites, mainly because GT is a far superior site, the games are more varied
with varients, the players, their nics, icons different ways of writing styles, it is simply the best.
From Badger to the latest member to join, just brill. Everyone who can give the benefit of their knowledge and skills enhances the site still further. I love board games, card games, some games i am not sure of but may give them a try and if I liked i continue to play but if not, i will leave it.
I am very competetive, and love to win but respect the people I play against and fully acknowledge when beaten by a better player. Having said that I play to win lose draw compete join in but most of al enjoy just playing. I have been fortunate enough to win a few compls and would love to win more but don't expect to win every time. This year will be my second Olympics and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who organizes them and to all participants, Good luck, enjoy, play hare and above allhave fun.My favorite games, Well backgammon is one as I was taught by a greek cypriot whilst serving in Cyprus. Most card games- whist, hearts, cribbage Etc, Go-moku is new to me and very challenging, I win a few and lose a lot. Pipes are very different and have not really come to terms with the intercases of the game yet. I tend to like playing fast games but enjoy some slower ones from time to time. The longer varients are interesting too, as it gives you more time to get to know who you are playing against and their methods of play.
I have started to join some clubs and enjoy playing are the ladders and compls. I am taking it slowly at the present but hope to join more as time goes on. Finally to all the players who have become my chums and friends, A very big thank you and I look forward to playing more games with you soon. To all players of GT send me an invite to play a game. If we become friends so much better.
If it was not for all of you there would be no GT. Please keep up the good work and may the force be with you all.
