GoldToken's Monthly News

January saw these site additions and improvements:

• Paraprosdokian Sentences: A Game to Complete the sentence in the form of a Paraprosdokian sentence - Hosted by GoldToken's Penguin123.
  • Weekly contests, daily challenges and oodles of fun!
• A large number of profile background choices have been added!
  • Customizing your GoldToken profile as easy as a point and click! Go to your profile, and click the pick background from list link under your account name to choose yours. There, you will find 30 images per page. The newest backgrounds start on page 40.
• New marker GO pieces! - Huge go to my ever gaming sister firefly.
  • You can see all of Fi's Goldies on the info page titled Goldies. [ Goldie Game pieces ] contains all of the new gaming pieces.

GoldToken has been suffering some very slow page speeds in the past month. You will be pleased to know Mecir has tracked most of the problems down, and our beloved site is back to it's normal speeds. GoldToken's RAM and power boxes have also been replaced and we added a 1 gig router to help with the number of page connections. If you are still experiencing a few slow downs, rest assured Mecir and our tech team are on top of it!

More Exciting News! The High Rollers Club is now the High Rollers Federation! Proud players of GoldToken's Shake games. Contact funtobewith11 for more information.

How do I upload photos to my GoldToken photo album?

To upload a picture to your photo album, you will need to go to your options box that is located on your main gamesheet and click on this option:

1.) View my Photo Album

From there, you will see under your photo album header, the following links:

• You have a total of (number of albums will be noted here) photo album. You can view a list of the albums.
• You can upload a total of 100 album photos to this album. Upload a new photo.

From there you:

• click on (upload a new photo)

When you click on (upload a new photo) and it will take you to this page:



Please select a picture from your computer to upload to this site.

Once approved, the uploaded picture will be displayed on your profile page.

Please note that the picture you upload must comply with our posted Acceptable Use Policy. Violation of that policy could result in account termination.

We accept images in the following formats:

JPG or JPEG
GIF
PNG (note that this format is not fully supported by all browsers)

Picture to upload: ___________________ | Browse |



From that page click on the:

• | Browse | button and find the picture you want to upload from your computer.

Once you have done that, click the:

• | Upload | button

You should now be done! If your picture does not upload, please try adjusting the size to a smaller image. Resizing your photo to 600 x 600 or smaller, should be sufficient, but 1000 x 1000 in a small pixel format works nicely too.

Once uploaded and approved, you can then use the links provided under the image with a number like this example: { Photo#12345 } to create a link to your photo, or { Picture#12345 } to insert the picture directly into a message or board post.

I wanted to wish everyone who takes up Camelot the very best of luck! To the onlooker the board and pieces appear to be attractive and "neat"! I've been playing this game for over a half a century and trust me! In reality this is a brutal battle of nerve, wits,logic and extreme patience! Since one cleverly planned move can lead to an opponent's entire army being wiped out with one jump it is indeed a matter of survival! Any and all players have a different reaction to being destroyed in one move and some react with a great amount of animosity! I therefore have one tremendous tip for the dedicated players on this site that I do battle with and to those are just discovering what was deemed to be "The Greatest Board Game Of The Nineteenth Century!" Simply this! Do everything in your power to maintain a FRIENDS FIRST COMPETITORS SECOND attitude!! Then you will truly enjoy this truly great game!

Best Recipe Contest

Oops! The squirrels got stuck on their exercise wheel and didn't get out in time to tabulate the Best Recipe results for the Newsletter! We are it made the newsletter late for this popular feature.

January's winner is Easy Crock Pot Beef Stroganoff

• Submitted by Callie

Easy Crock Pot Beef Stroganoff

• 1-2 pounds lean stew beef
• 1 envelope dry onion soup mix
• 3-4 cans undiluted mushroom soup
• small carton of sour cream

Place stew beef in sprayed crock pot. Sprinkle dry soup mix over the top.
Add mushroom soup. Mix well.

Cook on low all day, add sour cream about 30 minutes to an hour before serving. This is delicious over noodles or rice.
I know it sounds too easy, but it's delicious and makes the house smell wonderful!

Yes, I belong to lots of clubs

I live in the country on a small farm in Oklahoma

My town is a great place to live and/or retire

My hobbies are reading, hand crafts

walking with my dogs, volunteering, and working with my husband on our farm.

I started out a wooden, then a nice woman, Heather signed me up for a silver membership, and just a few months ago, Lady Fantasye paid for my renewal to the silver membership as I wasn't able to do it at the time. I have met some really nice people here. I found out about this site by someone on another site where I play. I love the jamble and the rummikub games the best, but I enjoy them all and I'm in the process of learning some new ones. People here are very friendly and always willing to help out in many areas. I am planning to upgrade to a gold membership in the future and hope I too can be as helpful to others as so many have been so helpful to me here. My thanks to all.

Impressions of a GoldToken Gold Member

Hi! I paid for my Gold level membership a few months ago.
What can I say? I was impressed with the site (as anyone who has read my "Impressions of a GoldToken newbie" might remember). I still am.
And then I continued, playing my turns as normal, business as usual.
Business as usual.
A very nice business, but business as usual.
Surely there must be something different, something extra, something awesome about being a Gold GoldToken member as compared to a Silver one.

I looked down below [the page].
"Wiki Web" the link said, and I clicked it.
A new window opened up and with it a whole new world!
I’d always wondered how those little Jiggly Letters were done, and I’ve grown to appreciate the extra expression that GoldToken’s “Goldies” (emoticons) can lend to a typed expression, so I was delighted to find both an expanded range of Goldies for Gold members ‘ use, and the secret to the Jiggly_Letters

As yet I haven't infiltrated my profile with the range of new Goldies or Jiggly Letters yet, but I've been having lots of fun trying it out on my gaming buddies in the message section below the games (I only hope that they forgive me).
Oh, and as a Gold GoldToken member I got to upload my own file as a background to my profile. Feels more individual already.
But what I’m really excited about is learning Wiki. I’ve got a general idea of what that means as of this moment, but now that I’ve seen the wonders that a few typed symbols can produce, I am eager to learn more.

I’ve got to say though, I didn’t anticipate my ego and ambition overwhelming and getting the better of me. I just forfeited fifteen tournament games because I needed to sleep and couldn’t make my move in time to avoid time out (the merciless hangman variety – no second chances). I’ve got to remember that even though I can play so many more games now that I am a Gold member of GoldToken, it doesn’t necessarily mean that I have the time to keep up with all of them. I could spend all day on GoldToken very easily, but alas life requires the fulfilment of other commitments as well.

Oh well. What’s that? I’ve got vacation days? 40 of them in any twelve month period! That’s more than I had as a Silver GoldToken member - maybe I’ve finally got the secret to avoiding time-out!

We celebrated our 3rd birthday December 3
About how many members do you have?

2. Are you the original owner?
No
If no, when did you become the owner?
LyndiLoo started it and shortly after, transferred the reins to me. When this happened, I was still a newby at wiki editing!

3. What kind of games does your club play?
We play strictly Grabble games--most with superdeedooper twists and loops d'loops!

What kind of discussions does your club get into?
We like to chat it up about current events, birthdays, and all the ups and downs of our members' lives. Always sending each other

4. Does your club do a lot of club vs. club ?
We're always jonsing for our next club vs club challenge. Anyone, anyone?

5. What do you think of the tourney ones?
We play mostly Wiki challenges, but more tourneys are in the works for 2012

6. Do you have alot of 'helpers' ?
I have a GREAT support team--officers and members included!

7. What are your future plans for your club?
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" I'm so pleased with my "home away from home" in The Word O'Rama Club. We have a lovely group of people to hang out with!

The The High Rollers Club is now classified as a Federation. This Federation is for the "High Rollers" of the site. Ones who like to play the Shake games and have won a site sponsored tournament this year are invited to join. If you want more information you can contact funtobewith11 she will happy to answer any questions or verify if you can join.


The The Crafters Fair Club is hard at work again bringing cheer to one of our treasured members here in GoldToken, they are in the midst of putting together its third hugs scrapbook.. This one will be for AZD159 who had injured her shoulder and has undergone surgery to correct it. They have had a large turnout of players who wish to make a few pages for the scrapbook but they are always in the need for more to make it as special as possible. If you wish to contribute or have question please contact either Scrapbooking Maven or PattyMac There are options other than making your own pages.

The Knights of the GoldTable Club are looking for automatic chess challenges. Message Sir Gilmour of the GoldTable or send a club invite. Prefer quick time limits per move, but will accept almost any challenge.


The Sudoku club has announced that they are taking on a whole new concept for the club and are in the midst of a refurbishment.
