Account Preferences
Preferences
With the following information you will learn how to locate and set-up your preferences to customize your Game Sheet and your game playing.
Where are my preferences located?
In the middle of your Game Sheet you will notice the Options box. Looking under the My Account heading you will see the Edit my Preferences link, by clicking on that link it will take you to the Introduction to the Preferences Pages. How do I use my preferences?
In the Introduction you can see the various categories of things that you can customize on the left. By clicking on one of the categories, you can view and edit the settings in that category.
Account Tab
From here you can change your nick name, your e-mail address (it must be a valid address), or your password. It also has a place where you can enter, if you wish, where you are from, your age, or gender. There is also a box that you can enter any additional information, such as what games are your favorites, time-limit you like, your tournament wins. You can put pretty much put anything as long as it abides by GoldToken Discussion Board Rules.
Game Sheet Tab
The Game Sheet Preferences Tab is where you are able to customize your Game Sheet. You choose from many options, information about invitations, sort games in the order you want to play them, show finished games, show your Chums, Polls, Photos, Banners and many more options.
Game Options Tab
Game Options Preferences is where you can decide action you would like to occur after you make a move in a game. Do you want to see the ratings? Set your default setting for invitations. How you want to display your move history and messages on your game.
Graphics Tab
On the Graphics Preferences Tab is where you can make your game board the size you want. There are different colors you can select for your Game Sheet. If you use Web TV this is where you can mark your settings. If you want to use the Classic Design display. Here is where you would set whether you see player icons or not and if you want the ability to click like different profiles, blogs and photos.
E-mail Tab
The e-mail tab gives you options on whether you want to receive e-mail when it is your turn, if you have been invited to a game or when the next round of your tournament starts. You may also choose to receive GoldToken's Monthly Newsletter.
Messages Tab
This tab gives you options on how you want to display incoming and outgoing messages. You can select what you would like to happen after you compose and send a new message.
There are options on how to display the discussion board posts, and here is where you can enable translation support.
Profile Tab
In this section you can configure the appearance of player profiles.
In the main section of your Game Sheet you can move the Ratings and Current Games up, down or to the side bar.
You can organize your Side bar, which contains Blog Info, Photo Album Info and Player Comments by moving them up, down or to the main section.
I you want to see other profiles the way you have yours set up View all profiles using my settings
If enabled, you will see profiles of other players using your own settings, rather than theirs.
Clock Tab
By setting the clock to match your current time, all dates and times listed on this web site will be shown using your time zone.
Please make sure the clock shows the correct time, because that is the time that is used to determine what day it is when calculating your days off and vacations.
Days Off Tab
This is where you can pick the days you would like to mark as your days off. Your games will not time out on either of these days, unless you are in a tournament where the rules state No day off. You are only allowed to change these once per week.
Vacation Tab
Here you will find a calendar to set up your vacation days. Click on a date to set that day as one of your vacation days. To see a different month, click on the << or >> arrows beside the month name.
There is also a box, if checked, the site will automatically set vacation days for you. We recognize that everyone has some events that make it impossible to get back to a computer. In light of that, we have implemented a policy that will automatically schedule vacation time if you time out in a game. How this works is that the first time you time out, our system checks to see if any vacation time has been used in the previous two weeks. If not, then it schedules two days of vacation time, and then extends your timed out game automatically for you. If you time out again, it will see that you have used vacation time in the previous two weeks, and so it won't automatically scheduled vacation time for you. This gives each player a little breathing room without unduly penalizing the other player.
Chums and Chumps Tabs
- Chums Preferences
You can use your Chums List to help keep you informed of when your friends are online. Just put your chums name in the Add Box and click add to list. When they approve your request, you will see them on your Chums list from your Game Sheet.
- Chumps Preferences
Your Chumps List is a list of the players on this site with whom you'd rather not play games and from whom you'd rather not receive messages. If someone on this site is bothering you, you can add that player to your Chumps List and not have to worry about being bothered by that player again. If you enter GoldToken site tournaments, you may be matched up with this player, but you will not see any messages they may post.
Just put the player's name in the Add box and click add to list. Be aware adding a player to your Chump list is serious. If you decide to remove them from your Chump list, you will need to contact GoldToken Support to remove them for you.
* If you have a question about a site tip or helpful tool you would like answered next month, please send GoldToken's Newshound a message before the 25th of this month.

Best Recipe Contest |
January's winner is: Flourless Chocolate Cake
- Submitted by Badger
One of my neighbors distributes the See's Candy chocolate, and gave me a huge bag of their "overrun" chocolate. The last of the vat stuff, hardened into a brick like block. I was delighted!! After playing with homemade chocolate almond bark and peanut butter cups, it was time to bake this old family favorite!
***
Ingredients
2 sticks (8 Tablespoons = 1 cup) of unsalted butter, cut into pieces (you can also use 1 cup of high quality margarine)8 large eggs
1 pound (16oz) of semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
A pan of Boiling water
Instructions
Adjust your oven rack to lower middle position and heat oven to 325 degrees (350 degrees for us high altitude folk). This is important so the top or bottom doesn't overcook. Line the bottom of an 8-inch springform pan with parchment paper and grease pan sides. While the original recipe calls for lining it with parchment paper, I was out of the paper, and just greased the pan REALLY well. Cover the bottom of the pan and along sides with a single sheet of foil and set in large roasting pan. You are doing this so you don't have any water seep in. This is actually important. However, since I was out of foil, I skipped this step and it turned out fine...but do be aware, this could be fatal to your cake.
Boil a pan of water.
In a mixer, beat the eggs until they double in volume. This takes about 5 minutes or so. In a double boiler, melt the chocolate and the butter together, stirring until completely blended. Not having a double boiler, I zapped the chocolate and butter 1 minute at a time in the microwave until it was melted instead. If you zap yours, be sure to stir with a wooden spoon to help it melt in between each minute.
Fold 1/3 of the beaten egg foam into the melted chocolate/butter mixture until only a few streaks of egg are visible; fold in half of the remaining egg foam, mix again. Then the last of the remaining egg foam, until mixture is homogenous and totally blended together.
Scrape the chocolate mixture into your prepared springform pan. Place the springform pan inside the roasting pan. Carefully pour enough boiling water in the roasting pan to come about halfway up the outside sides of the springform pan. Very carefully, so you don't get any water seepage in the springform pan.
Bake at 325 degrees for about 25 minutes. The top will have a thin "crust" (like a brownie) that has formed on the surface. The cake will be very soft at this point, and you need be careful to not disturb it much. I let mine sit in the oven with the door open once the 25 minutes are reached for a few minutes to help it "set".
Remove the springform pan from the water bath and set on a wire rack to cool. Once cooled to room temperature, cover and refrigerate overnight to mellow. You can also place it in the freezer at this point. This cake is best served very cold.
About 30 minutes before you are ready to serve, remove the springform pan sides, invert the cake on a plate or a sheet of parchment paper. I used a plate because after that you are going to turn the cake back over on a serving platter or another cake. It was just easier.
Eat plain (it's delectable!) or sprinkle the top with a little powdered sugar and add some seasonal berries. Bet you can't eat just one slice!!!!
GoldToken's Badger will receive a "one time" access to the entire list of site icons, and can select any one that is not currently being used by another player, regardless of membership level (Silver and Wood members can keep the icon for 1 year!). Please send a big to Badger!

Interview by: laura lee |
{ Image: comicsworthreading.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/hillbillybears.jpg }
**~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~**
We would like to say to Hillbilly for letting us step into their personal life for a bit.
What brought you to Goldtoken?
One of my sons was a member back in 2001 and I was learning to play chess. He suggested I might be interested in GoldToken and he was SO right!
How'd you choose your name for GT?
At that time I had just moved to the country and loved to go barefoot. My city friends called me a Hillbilly...and it stuck.
2. What interest you most on GT? Favorit game?
So many great games and the friendly people. I know..."most" means one and I mentioned TWO. I can't really say I have a favorite game but I enjoy the gammon games.
3. Do you belong to any of the clubs?
I belong to several clubs and try to be active in their tourneys.
4. What State or Country do you reside in? city or country?
I live out in the country on 80 acres in the great "Show Me" state of Missouri.
What in your State do you think tourist should definity see?
Missouri has several interesting places to visit: The Truman Library in Independence, the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, the Ozarks in southern Missouri during the Fall, and the many celebrity shows in Branson.
5. What hobbies to you have?
I love Goldtoken, reading, and being outside observing and appreciating nature. I love to watch the wild animals out in my fields: coyotes, foxes, opossums, raccoons. I once even saw a cougar at the back of my property. Also, there's the many varieties of birds that come to my bird feeders.
6. Children? Grandchildren?
I have 3 sons and a daughter, 3 Granddaughters and 3 Grandsons, and 4 GREAT-Grandsons (14, 12, and 4 year old twins) and 3 GREAT-Granddaughters (4, 3, and 9 months).
7. Do you work?
I took early retirement from my accounting job in 2000 to come to the country and marry the boyfriend I had when I was 15. We had 8 beautiful years together before he died in 2008.
8. Any pets?
I have two pets: Lady, a lab mix, a stray who adopted me back in 2010, and Checkers, a feral cat who is always "on guard" and is gradually accepting me on her own terms.
9. Are you under 30?___ 30 to 50? ___ or over 50?
Male or Female?
I'm a female WAY over 50! My body will be 75 in April but my mind won't let me accept that.
10. What's the farthest you been from home?
Was it a vacation or for business?
I am blessed to have a loving friend here on Goldtoken who took me to The Netherlands to meet Noortje, another member of Goldtoken. We had been chess partners on another site for six years and she was dying from cancer.
11. If you could be anywhere right now where would that be?
If I could be anywhere right now it would be right here where I am. I love this place and enjoy it every day...especially in the Spring when everything comes to life again.
May I also add that I have never written so many sentences starting with "I"?
If there are any questions you would like to see asked in future interviews, please let us know.

Testimonial Of The Month |
Brought to you by: *GoldToken* Players |
I have been at Gold Token since June 2010, I have met so many great friends here. Too many to name but I will name a few blackangus, hoot, GinnyB, ladyvic, scoopdedew, Rabid Wolf and many many others. I belong to a lot of different clubs, I run the Deborah's Cove Family, and the Diamonds Are Forever clubs. I help out in Scoopdedew's Castle Club, Animal Icon club, and also The Wolf Pack. I enjoy all the clubs I am in and the people I have met. This site is like a huge family. I am glad to be a part of it. I was invited as a guest to join and I did. Then things just happen so fast. The first club I joined was Sally and Friends Club, then I went to Jane's Gems and then she had to give up the club so I took over from there. Then later on asked the members if they wanted a name change and then it came to be Diamonds Are Forever Club. I have three sisters here that I asked to join this wonderful site and they are missdeedee2j, donn8962, and jenell mcguire. I hope to be here for many more years and still meet new friends along the way.
