Hi
I was originally invited to join by a friend of mine who I had met on a dating site. She set me up with a 3 month silver membership back in early 2009. WOW nearly seven years now. It has transformed my online activity and I have played nearly everyday since. My favorite part has been the gold token Olympics and this is always a great challenge and give you such a large variety of games to play. I have also been lucky enough to win it twice, and was gifted a third when the true winner left the tournament before the end.
It is a great way of meeting loads of members and also of playing new games and challenges. I would recommend it and suggest everyone try the new and mystery games as they are ones I enjoy most.
I have met and chatted to many friends on here and some have had great game battles with and revel in our match ups. I will only mention two special friend. First , Red Panda who gave me my most and enjoyed challenge playing a variety of every game and whilst he got the better of me was always a pleasure to play. Sadly it was he who decided to leave GT last year. He was also fun when it came to crossing swords on our sporting interests with England winning the Ashes my time for celebration and he in turn winning the Cricketing world cup and beating England in the rugby version. I will miss our games.
Second , many thanks will go to GinnyB she has been a great friend and in the The Castaways Club has made me feel the biggest part of the goldtoken community. Also giving me the opportunity to give a bit back setting up challenges for the members of that club. she is a great friend and long may it continue.
One other close friend is alexlee who gives me great support in my Olympic challenges .
Goldtoken is a great site and many thanks to Badger and Mecir for making it great along with all the others who help.
Finally a special mention to TexasToestwho invited me into castaways and started something which occupies me so much at home and especially on my long commutes to work. You were a lovely person and will be sadly missed.

Also, in March Google's AlphaGo will be taking on a player that many consider to be the best Go player in the world - Korean 9 dan professional player Lee Sedol with a prize money of $1,000,000 US dollars. All Go players will be riveted to YouTube watching the live broadcast of the five games!!!

We would like to say to YNWA for letting us step into their personal life for a bit.
1. What brought you to GoldToken?
It's a long time ago , but I think it was recommended by someone on another site
How'd you choose your name for GT?
I am a fanatical follower of Liverpool Football Club. Their motto is 'You'll Never Walk Alone' - hence YNWA
2. What interests you most on GT?
I'm fascinated by the diverse range of people on this site (and playing a first game against someone who's been on the site as long as I have!)
Favorite game here?
Backgammon, Nackgammon and Hypergammon. I used to play others, but I like winning!
3. What State or Country do you reside in?
I am English, but now live in Spain (It's warmer here!) (unknown photo)What in your State or Country do you think tourist should definitely see?
No visit to England is complete without seeing The Lake District. On the 5 days a year when the sun shines, it is the most beautiful place on Earth
4. What hobbies do you have?
Other than , I walk a lot, read a lot and eat a lot (Not necessarily in that order!)
5. Children? Grandchildren?
I have a son and three daughters and two grand-daughters
6. Do you work?
I've retired
What kind of work do/did you do?

Here. I now live on the Costa del Sol in Spain where the sun shines most of the time and the people are lovely.

Contest of the Month |
Best Club Banner
Enter GoldToken's Club Banner Contest! The winning banner will be given one full year to run! All entries will rotate with the other banners on top of player game sheets for 30 days from the day they are added to the system. The entry deadline is March 31, 2016. A poll will be posted for voting on April 1. To enter, post a new, never before seen, 800x90 or 200x200 pixel club banner on the Club Presidents DB along with the club number.
All top banners must be exactly 90 pixels high so the page does not bump up and down as each page loads.
Having trouble creating your own banners or lack a photo editing program? Try one of the free services on the net that offers free banner creation. Free banners created using these systems can be incredible and very professional. Here are a couple links to sites that provide this service, however, you you might wish to find others more suited to your taste and abilities by Googling "Free Banners". Then it is just a matter of uploading your banner to your accounts Banner system.

The Kitties Korner & Doggie Daycare Club is having a membership drive. If you have a furred pet, fin or feathered is ok too, you may be interested in joining the The Kitties Korner & Doggie Daycare Club. They have monthly site run tournaments only, no wiki games. There is a fun and newsy chat board to talk about your best furry friends. Contact furryfeet for more info or a member invite to this fun club.
The The West of the Setting Sun Club is about to start up a special new tournament called the "GoldToken Meijin Tournament" whereby the best Go player for the year in their Club is awarded a special recognition token. This token they keep for the next year and must compete to retain it.
The game of Go might also be of interest to GT members because of the news that Google's AlphaGo took on and defeated a professional Go player from Europe (5-0!) - the first time a computer has ever (and I mean ever) beaten a professional player on an even game (meaning no handicap/advantage given to the computer)
Come join them and learn how to play this awesome game or hone your playing skills with other Go players. Contact the owner for more info tzorec
