thank you, something sane and rational!
There is overwhelming evidence that mankind's many activities are making for a rapid rise in global temperature. The rise in atmospheric CO2 is measurable, as well as calculable from all of the combustion that we do (oil, gas, coal, wood). Actual measured temperature increases, for the most part, fall right in line with predicted changes. The models (in computers) have gotten more and more comprehensive, with more and more of the parameters being measured over a period of decades, and factors (which alter the exact value of parameters to calculate
) being known more and more accurately. Modest rises in sea level are real. Potential rises in sea level are catastrophic! It's already bad, and it's going to get worse. Yes, events outside of human control will factor in: a massive volcano, for example, could help chill the planet for some time. But meanwhile, is the frequency and strength of heat-driven storms (ie hurricanes and the like) not apparent? And yes, we could have a saving cooling cycle, like the one that occure3d around the 1300's (so much for the Vikings in Greenland and Newfoundland); but, overall, we aren't far away from the previous IceAge; if anything, natural cycles might be helping to warn=m the planet!
