The first set of 5 videos is aimed at people who are both curious about and afraid to get involved in playing Wiki Tournaments. They are designed to take the fear and mystery out of the tournaments. The second set of 4 videos is aimed at Club owners and Directors. At the request of one owner, these were created as a walk-through of the process of setting up a Site-Run Tournament from start to finish. The last segment directs them to other resources on the site.

Up front & personal
Interview by: laura lee

**~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~**

We would like to say Thank you to marshmud for letting us step into their personal life for a bit.

1. What brought you to GoldToken, and how'd you choose your name for GT?
  • I followed my friends to GT from brainking in 2013. My marshmud name came from the Fire Dept I was involved with. While out in my Boat and searching for clams at low tide I got stuck in a creek bed and had to alert my own company to rescue Help! me and some of the guys started calling me marshmud as I was in to my hips by the time they responded. Many call me marshy as well.

2. What interests you most on GT? Do you have a favorite game?
  • I enjoy my friends High five more so than the games. My favorite games lately are Officer's Skat and Eureka. There is a small bug Bumble Bee in the Eureka game, however - I wish it could be fixed.

3. What state or country do you reside in? What do you think tourists should definitely see?
  • I live along the east coast of the Maryland/Virginia line on an island Island out in the Atlantic ocean. Small town of about 2500 on a small 10 sq mile island. Chincoteague Island Virginia. It's known for the Chincoteague ponies (unknown photo) (unknown photo) and any given summer weekend we have 50,000 tourists. A tourist would visit Assateague park and visit the ponies and swim on the ocean beach.

4. What hobbies do you have?
  • Stunt kite flying and parafoil power kites. It's truly unbelievable in a 30 mph wind along the coast. Since retired, it has made me a child again. I love the adrenaline.
5. Children? Grandchildren?
  • 2 children, 3 grandchildren and my cat is my child also, lol.

6. Do you work? What kind of work do/did you do?
  • Retired FF Fireman from Wallops Island, Va. Plus 20 years military Salute and now spending my kids' inheritance as fast as I can. Golderos

7. Any pets?
  • Yes, a Maine Coon cat Yellow cat named poophead. A gentle giant he weighs over 8kg (18 lbs) and is just a year old.
8. Are you under 30?___ 30 to 50? ___ or over 50?
  • I am over 50

9. What's the farthest you've been from home?
  • Korea in the military Soldierman and I traveled to the UK twice in the past 2 decades.

10. If you could be anywhere right now, where would that be?
  • If I was asked that pre-COVID-19 I probably would say I want to visit New Zealand most of all. But actually I'm very blessed to be located where I am during this horrible time and a trip in my boat is the safest thing to do.

11. Favorite season?
  • My favorite season is Autumn as I love the fall colors. Autumn Tree

12. Favorite movie? Favorite TV show?
  • I don't watch much tv, and my favorite film is probably "Bridges of Madison county". One of Clint Eastwood's first films he directed and acted in, and also with Meryl Streep. It's actually a "chic flic". It just touched me inside and I've never forgotten it.

13. If you could meet anyone (living or dead) in the world, who would it be?
  • I would have to say I want to meet my grandpa, Louis, who passed away in 1980. His wife, Hazel, my grandmom, was born during the (1920) Spanish flu. She made it through hell and high water, even beat cancer. But grandmom is back with grandpop, as COVID-19 took her home, so I would like to sit with them together again and have dinner. It has been 40 years.

If there are any questions you would like to see asked in future interviews, please let us know.

Contest of the Month

Best Blog Contest

What Is A Blog?

A blog (according to Wikipedia) is a website where entries are written in chronological order and commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.
Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject such as food, politics, or local news; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic.

If you decide to enter the world of blogging, you should decide what kind of blog you want your blog to be. What do you want to write about? Are you going to write about many things or something specific? Decide how often you are going to add entries - every day, once a week, once a month, etc.
Once you have decided what you are going to write about, you need to think about how you are going to write it or enter it into your blog, be it by text, by pictures or even external links. A great blog will take advantage of all of the above things. Your blog story or viewpoint can be enhanced and made much more enjoyable and interesting to read by the use of pictures and links.

Write about what you are passionate about, write about what you know and make sure you know what you are writing about. For the more serious bloggers, be aware that you won't be taken very seriously if your blog is full of grammar and spelling mistakes. So make sure you spellcheck.

No matter your blog content, people will continue to come back to read it as long as you continue to make it interesting.

  • The contest winner will be chosen by poll on the Blog Entries DB, based on entries submitted this month. Entries must be posted no later than 11:59pm, Pacific Time, Wednesday, July 29, 2020, to be eligible for voting.

  • The winner will receive 5 Golderos and a Profile Token!

We have a winner for the Best Short Story contest!

Actually, we have two! Congratulations to JanuarySnowAngel and murrsquito! You can read their stories below:

MUSIC
By murrsquito

He lived in silence.

He dreamed of hearing music.

Then, one day, they found one another.

She held his hand. His heart beat. It was rhythm.
She kissed him and he felt his blood flowing inside him. It was melody.
She smiled and it was all the lyrics of all the love songs ever written.

And they were music.

Janvaria
by JanuarySnowAngel

As a young adult, Janvaria lived a life of fantasia. She always danced to her own tempo, making friends but no real soul mate. Regardless of her efforts, the outcomes were small and flat. It seemed like she and the guys she dated were octaves apart. Most could not overlook her non-conforming demeanor: libero and scherzo.
Thoughts of her failures ran crescendo through her mind. She began to think that her chances of true love were diminuendo. But she was strong-willed and refused to let the chorus of disappointments overcome her. Little did she know that her trebles were merely a prelude to a future dulce senza misura.
Then on one of her acoustic nights, she found herself wading barefoot in a water fountain. She had kicked off her shoes furioso, where they landed in a nearby bird bath. Splashing passionato, her once unsettled mind was finally in pausa.
Then mysterioso, a young man appeared quite maestoso, yet allegro. He scooped her shoes out of the bird bath and sang acknowledgment of her love for the birds, offering the poor birds footwear. His eyes twinkled giocoso and she smiled back modesto yet intimo. At once her heart felt adagio. “This man is sharp,” she thought. “But I don’t feel the need to speak marcato to him. He is the one!” The two continued the night in their own nocturne, quite relaxed with each other, talking and moving improvvisato.
It was only a month when they decided to tie the knot to become Mr. & Mrs. Eroico Pastorale. The guests were a medley of family, friends, and folks off the street! The church resounded sonoro as the ushers entered gustoso. Then all went tacet as Janvaria stood at the back of the church. The guests stood grandioso certain of the duet; these soulmates about to become one.
The bride was arioso, as she glided poco a poco down the aisle. The groom took her hand as she approached espansivo. Eroico evoked the declamando nature of the union they would soon share. In concerto, they each offered their vows. His sounded a capella, strong and forte. Janvaria, in awe of her good fortune, uttered her words vibrato, yet true.
Once the sacrament of matrimony was complete, the celebrant instructed the couple to kiss. Eroico put both arms around Janvaria in a cavallaresco manner; he would never let the world disappoint her. At the magico kiss, the guests called for an encore.
Janvaria looked deep into Eroico’s eyes with speaking pianissimo, “This is one chorus I will always want to repeat.”
